Start Easy

Now I’m pretty sure that you know of a few things you can do to improve your diet and lifestyle to lose weight. Start gradually if you feel overwhelmed by the thought of losing weight. Cut down or cut out the food that you know is making things worse. This may be soft drinks, alcohol, cakes, lollies, fried foods, take away, even bread and pasta. But by all means do not starve yourself! Foods for healthy weight loss Eat a high quality breakfast such as oats with nuts and a piece of fruit, or poached eggs on a piece of rye toast. Each meal is best to contain a serve of protein- lean meat, egg, nuts, seeds, legumes. Protein is important to stave off hunger pangs, balance blood sugar and to prevent muscle loss. The prevention of muscle loss is important as muscle is your powerhouse that burns calories for you while you sleep! As we age we tend to lose muscle and gain fat. So we need to make an effort to keep and build our muscle. This includes regular weight bearing exercise. Many weight loss programs promote rapid weight loss, but the weight loss includes not only fat, but muscle too. This is part of the reason why so many of us then experience rebound weight gain.
